Beth Steffens was first introduced to yoga and Pilates during a high school physical education class. At the time, it was a good supplement to her dance training and excellent cross training for the variety of sports she played. Beth dabbled but didn't have a consistent yoga practice in her teens and early twenties.
Fifteen years later Beth adopted a regular practice and began her study of yoga. In February 2012, Beth was invited to teach at a local hot yoga studio. In August 2013, Beth completed her 200-hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training Certification under the guidance of Catherine Ashton at YOUnique Yoga.
Exploring new studios in the area, Beth began teaching in Highland, Indiana at PurePower Hot Yoga in December 2013. After teaching for 4 years, Beth then took a four-year break and added two babies to her and husband's family.
Beth came back to teaching in August 2021 at Now Yoga Club in St. John, Indiana; as well as quickly returning to PurePower Hot Yoga. Beth is also the primary yoga substitute instructor at Core Crown Point.
Each studio is different and amazing in its own way. It's a privilege to be a part of the Northwest Indiana yoga community.
With a practice rooted in balance, alignment, and usually corny jokes, Beth strives to create an accessible learning environment where all levels and intentions for practicing can be met.
As an analytical type-A personality, Beth has found that yoga is the best tool to get out of your head and listen to your heart. A consistent yoga practice can become a great rehearsal for life.
You will fall, you will not be perfect. You will stand up and try again, you will accept the imperfections, and you will stop placing unnecessary expectations on yourself.
